What have I done?
I applied for a promotion at work… and didn’t get it. Disappointing, to say the least.
How’s it going now?
Right now, I’m mostly looking forward to a proper rest over Christmas. I’ve got some time off, which should give me space to work on a few personal bits and hopefully get out with the camera a bit more.
Thoughts on this month
December has never really been my month. I’m not big on social interaction at the best of times, and losing my Dad around Christmas means the season comes with a lot of baggage.
I find myself missing the simpler Christmases when one present was enough and it didn’t feel like the whole thing was being forced on you from September onwards. Yes, I know… full Grinch mode.
That said, the music gets a free pass. I’ve always been a closet Slade fan, so Merry Xmas Everybody will never get old.
Can we also talk about the weather? The rain hasn’t stopped since November, and when you combine that with cold, dark nights, it can really get you down. Roll on summer warm evenings, chasing fast jets, and airshows.
Lately, I’ve also started to realise it might be time for a career change. I’m pretty done with the corporate IT world, where being the loudest voice in the room often matters more than competence, knowledge, or experience.
Into the future
2026 feels like the year to seriously look for something new. I’ve always loved the idea of being a full-time content creator. I enjoy teaching, even if I never thought I was clever enough to do it professionally and that’s where YouTube comes in. Anyone can give it a go. No qualifications, no gatekeepers, just turning up and creating.
Here’s to a brighter year ahead.
